Celebrate the arrival of spring by experiencing the sights and sounds of amorous male toads in search of that special someone! Our annual wetland festival is scheduled around the explosive breeding ritual of American toads at our very own Americas Wetlands Outdoor Exhibit. Although the emergence and courtship of toads is the main event, there are heaps of other fun activities for children and adults alike, including: face painting, froggy games like "Fish for a Prize," Toady the Mascot, lessons on tracking wildlife using GPS technology, and information on how to become a Frog Watcher or Turtle Detective. International Red Panda Day

Learn all about these amazing and endangered creatures and meet our red panda family! Don't miss a special meet-the-keeper talk plus enrichment feeding at 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm and bid on fun prizes in a panda-themed silent auction. All proceeds support the Red Panda Network, an organization committed to the conservation of wild red pandas and their habitat.

Earth Day Rattlesnake Workshop

Each year the Toronto Zoo hosts rattlesnake workshops for the people who share habitat with rattlesnakes near their homes and cottages, and where they work and play. Discussions about the natural history of rattlesnakes will be followed by ample opportunity to ask questions. Learn how to identify the Massasauga Rattlesnake and meet a live rattlesnake. Space is limited. Please note that the programme length may be too long for children under eight years old. For a $5.00 donation: snacks, lots of fun resources to take home, and time to visit our interactive Massasauga area on the zoo site. Envirorangers - Zoo Guiding

The Zoo employs many Volunteers that have the opportunity to guide the Zoo's visitors and help teach them about our 5000 animals. Volunteers include our Zoo Ambassadors which are Volunteers between the age of 14 and 16 who help out throughout the year. The Zoo Guiding program gives an introduction to what being a Zoo Ambassador is like while having lots of fun at the same time. Come out and meet some of our Volunteers and the animals they get to see every day!

Together we'll look for clues that animals leave behind as we discover more about where these animals go, what they like to do and some of the unusual places where they may live. You'll get the chance to become an animal tracker, learning how to look for clues that animals leave behind and ways that researchers track animals of the wild. Don't miss this opportunity to learn more about the wildlife that exists right under your nose.

Weekend programs are developed to provide an age appropriate environment for children to learn about a variety of animal related topics. Each program includes guided tours of portions of the Zoo, theme-related activities and crafts, as well as an opportunity to go "behind the scenes" to meet animal experts and the animals that they work with. These programs include a majority of the time outdoors therefore appropriate clothing is required. Children are expected to be able to participate in the program both individually and in group settings. Children are allowed to bring cameras with them but should leave all other devices at home (music players, video game devices). All personal items are to be brought at child's own risk.

Parent and Tot Program - Hide n' Seek

Parent and Tot is a program developed to encourage the learning process between parent and child while providing activities and crafts that help to teach about the animal related topics. Each session includes multiple activities that are self directed. They encourage parent/child bonding, are self-paced and are developed to take advantage of the learning abilities of children in this age group (seeing and touching). Each session of Parent and Tot also includes poem/story time and an opportunity to meet an animal and its keeper. This program occurs entirely indoors and does not include any guided tours through the Zoo. Parent will engage their children in participating in the activities. Parents will use the provided information to assist them in teaching their child about the specific topic. Parent attendance and participation is required for all Parent and Tot programs. Party for the Planet

The Zoo is hosting the premier Earth Day event in the GTA - our very own "Party for the Planet." What better place to celebrate Earth Day than at the Zoo to learn about ways that YOU can be an ambassador for living in a more environmentally friendly way. Meet the Zoo's recycling dynamic duo, Henry and Douale, and enjoy extra keeper talks at the polar bears. Once again the Zoo will partner with many top environmental education organizations in Ontario to provide you with fun resources that will help you change the world for the better! We look forward to sharing with you effective ways that YOU can make a difference. Join us at the new Tundra Trek area for a fun-filled day of conservation and education.

March Break Week

Annual Easter "Egg" Stravaganza

Hop along the Zoo's "Spring Trail" to visit some of your favourite animals and solve an egg-citing word puzzle! Check out one of our special Easter keeper talks, and take part in a "Beary-Bunny Easter Parade" at 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm daily. Don't forget to watch for sightings of Explorer Bear at the Courtyard Stage, he will be donning his festive Easter ears!
