Training people in karate since 1973, Buick's Karate Dojo offers two styles of Karate that are both rooted in Okinawa. Shorin Ryu means "Small Pine Tree Way/Style". Goju Ryu meaning "Hard Soft Way/Style". At the time of the inception of these two styles the people of Okinawa were not allowed by their governing country to have any metal implement and/or allowed to practice any Martial Art. This being the case they had to develop very effective and skillful Martial Arts to enable them to defend themselves even from a armed adversary. This is why these two Martial Arts can still be found being practiced all over the world today.
