YOUTH MUSIC THEATRE PRODUCTION CAMP - The Little Mermaid Jr.
Camp: Summer Camp > General
Perform in a fully staged musical production of The Little Mermaid Jr.! A fun and exciting way to spend your summer! All students are cast in a role and will receive lessons in dance, voice and acting. Students create set pieces and props for the final performance held at Alumnae Theatre on the last day of camp. PLOT SYNOPSIS: In a magical kingdom fathoms below, the beautiful young mermaid Ariel longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. But first, she'll have to defy her father King Triton, make a deal with the evil sea witch Ursula, and convince Prince Eric that she’s the girl with the enchanting voice. SAMPLE DAY: *9-12pm: Introduction and Warm-up Games / Dance Instruction & Show Choreography / Vocal Warm-up and Music Rehearsal /Acting Improvisation and Games *12-1pm: Supervised Lunch (No Nuts or Seeds) Students are required to bring their own drinks, snacks and lunch/ *1-4pm: Create Set Pieces / Show Staging and Dialogue / Outdoor Time / Run Scenes Note: The last day of the camp is held at Alumnae Theatre and students are responsible for getting to and from the theatreDate : 2013-07-01 to 2013-08-30

*Make Me a Song is a celebration of William Finn's exceptional career in musical theatre. *Effortlessly woven together, treasured tunes by the composer (Falsettos, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) tell personal, haunting and often hilarious tales from Finn's rich and touching songbook. Make Me a Song: The Music of William Finn brims with spectacular highlights sure to delight longtime fans and newcomers alike. ABOUT THE PROGRAM: *Stage Director Melissa Bencic and Music Director Tara Litvack will lead a select group of 10-12 students in an intimate and inventive performance of "Make Me a Song: The Music of William Finn". *In this intensive, each student will have the opportunity to prepare a principal role and hone in on their vocal and dramatic development of the songs and their characters. This piece is a contemporary revue of William Finn songs, and will produced in an innovative and conceptual setting, bidding farewell to tradition theatre-style presentations of music theatre. This is a trend that has been developing off-Broadway in New York, as well as in London, Chicago, Toronto, and other major theatre cities around the world. *This is a first for Bravo Academy and is an exciting opportunity to take part in a unique production! Advanced Musical Theatre - Youth Musical Theatre Troupe (10-13 yrs)

Advanced Musical Theatre - Youth Musical Theatre Troupe (10-13 yrs) An advanced youth music theatre training program designed to build students skills in singing, acting and dance. Each year students will work towards performing in two full length main stage musical production. Admission is based on audition only. Students do not require past music theatre experience to audition. Past productions have included Cinderella G2K, Thoroughly Modern Mille Jr., Willy Wonka Jr., Once Upon a Mattress and Seussical Jr. Please visit our photo gallery to view pictures from our past productions. Students accepted into this program must be committed and willing to practice regularly. Homework will be assigned where students may be required to memorize lines, work on choreography, staging or music. As well, additional rehearsals will be booked in addition to Tuesday class times with advance notice for costume fittings, extra rehearsals and technical and dress rehearsals at the theatre. Dates Please contact Bravo Academy to be placed on a notification list when the Audition Dates become available. Note: All current students must re-audition if they would like to be considered for the next season. *Please note that rehearsals will occasioally be scheduled until 9:00pm and students should be prepared to stay until that time. Rehearsals are 2 hours long, once a week, every Thursday night. Throughout each term we will have a handful of mandatory extra rehearsals on select weekends – these dates will be available at the start of each term. In addition, there will be mandatory dress rehearsals during the week leading up to the show weekend that will take place at the theatre. Advanced Musical Theatre - Teen Musical Theatre Group (13-21 yrs) The Teen Musical Theatre Troupe is an advanced training program designed to build students’ skills in singing, acting and dance. Each year students work towards performing in two full length main stage musical productions. Admission is based on audition only. Past productions have included 13, The Drowsy Chaperone, Les Misérables, Oklahoma, Little Women the Broadway Musical, Bye Bye Birdie, Grease, and Anne of Green Gables. The Teen Troupe provides a fun, encouraging environment for students who are serious about performing in musical theatre. Respect, focus, and a solid work ethic are essential to success in the program. Students are responsible for reviewing their lines, songs and choreography outside of the class, and are expected to attend class fully prepared to rehearse each week. Bravo Academy is committed to providing high quality shows that give budding young professionals a chance to shine and unlock their potential. Dates Day: Tuesdays (Full Year Program) Time: 6:30-9:30 pm* Place: Bravo Academy (150 Laird Drive) *Please note that rehearsals will occasionally be scheduled until 10:00pm and students should be prepared to stay until that time. Rehearsals are 3 hours long, once a week, every Tuesday night.
