Art Works Art School is a community based art school whose mandate is to introduce children and teens to the enriching world of art making. We offer art instruction starting at ages 2 yrs old with a parent or caregiver, 3-6, 7- 11, 12-14 , 15 - 17, & adults 17 years & older, with special emphasis on the development of visual awareness, imagination and comfort with materials. Having a sketchbook and using it regularly is a must for any serious artist and these clubs offer creative and dynamic ways to work in your sketchbook with all four weeks offering different projects. PROGRAMMING: *July 16 to 18: Sketch Club with Lauren Renzetti, Draw from observation in the studio and on location near Art Works. Learn techniques and challenging drawing strategies to fill your sketchbook with inventive drawing projects in pencil, pastel, ink and collage. *July 30 to August 1: Sketch Club with Corrie Burrows, Teens needing a sketchbook for your portfolio - this is the club for you! FESTIVE MASQUERADE: AM Session 9:30-noon Through Mardi Gras Carnival themes and the Commedia dell’ Arte masks, a masquerade for all the senses will be explored in both English and French. The historical masks and their nomadic legacy will take us into a time capsule to France and back to the future to New Orleans during the Mardi Gras festival.
