Busy Toronto Parents Get the Scoop
The Kid Scoop, the largest local database of information for families and children in the Greater Toronto area (GTA), is ready to help busy parents plan their family's outings, find kid's activities and get deals from kid-friendly businesses.
Thekidscoop.com, available to Montreal families since June 2009, is a hyper-local Internet site providing Toronto families with a single, free-of-charge reference source for children's activities, classes, programs and events.
"Toronto families will now have access to the functions and services already accessed by over 150,000 visitors a year to the Montreal site," says Cindy Fagen, President and founder of The Kid Scoop. "We help parents save time and money as they balance the demands of work and family," she says.
Toronto parents face a staggering number of activity and program options and, therefore, stand to benefit greatly from the searchable database offered by thekidscoop.com, Fagen says. The one-stop website will serve parents in the GTA, but as a dynamic source of information, it will readily expand to surrounding communities depending on the demand, she noted, adding that plans are already underway to launch in Calgary and Vancouver.
Registered members of The Kid Scoop receive a monthly e-newsletter - Your Scoop Update - that provides them with targeted information matched only to their specific family's interests. "This is like having a personal assistant weeding through thousands of activities and identifying those suited to your child's interests and age group in your specified location," Fagen explains.
Your Scoop Update differentiates thekidscoop.com from other family-oriented websites that often are a confusing mixture of directories, articles, recipes and deals. "We are an intelligent site that focuses only on local content, we aggregate this content and provide you with a customized newsletter geared just for your family," says Fagen. Most importantly, The Kid Scoop offers parents an option to register and pay on-line for many of those activities.
Furthermore, The Kid Scoop offers deals from participating partners, called Super Scoop Daily Deals, including discounts at local kid-friendly retailers and tickets for special family fun events. The Montreal database has over 1,000 business listings, but the Toronto database has over 3,000 and is growing, says Fagen.
"Our solution has evolved over the past two years and based on feedback from our customers, we are building in new and exciting features to our website." Fagen says.
A Daycare Services category was recently introduced and the Birthday Party section has been enhanced. In addition, more collaborative tools were added to give parents and businesses a forum to exchange information. The Kid Scoop is also expanding its MOM Advisory Board, which gives this market-savvy group an opportunity to share ideas and offer feedback about the website.
Thekidscoop.com is currently available on social media sites, such as Facebook and Twitter, and a mobile version will soon be available.
