The Kid Scoop Announces New Relationship and Acquisition of The Mommies Lounge.

The Kid Scoop Announces New Relationship and Acquisition of The Mommies Lounge.

MONTREAL – October 1, 2009, The Kid Scoop, Montreal’s first bilingual online reference for kids activities announced today the acquisition of The Mommies Lounge. The combining of these 2 hyperlocal sites establishes The Kid Scoop as the largest lifestyle and database internet site for families in Montreal.

Since launching The Mommies Lounge (TML) in 2006, President and Founder Lindsay Holesh spent the last 3 years building a business focused on providing parenting information and retail offerings to mothers across Canada. With over 2000 registered members, TML members receive monthly e-newsletters, attend exclusive events and benefit from savings with preferred retailers in Quebec, Ontario and New Brunswick.

The two well aligned businesses will now bring together an extensive database of kids’ activities, special offers from vendors, lifestyle content and newsletters under one digital umbrella, The Kid Scoop website, www.thekidscoop.com

“Our combined digital traffic and the consolidating of lifestyle and activity content strengthen our position as the information destination for Canadian parents.” says Ms Holesh.  As part of the acquisition, Ms Holesh will assume the position of Director of Sales for The Kid Scoop.

The existing TML will be integrated into The Kid Scoop site headed by The Kid Scoop President, Cindy Fagen.  “The combining of The Kid Scoop and The Mommies lounge offers us an exciting business opportunity with great growth potential both within Montreal and at a National level. The partnership strengthens our position in the kids and family online market, increases reach to our target market areas and accelerates our initial plans to roll out The Kid Scoop to other cities across Canada.” says Ms. Fagen. “With Lindsay and her teams experience and the addition of lifestyle content to The Kid Scoop activity platform we can offer more value to our customers so the relationship is a natural fit.”

Since The Kid Scoop’s launch on June 8th, 2009 the website has quickly accumulated the single largest database of up-to-the-minute kids activities in Montreal with over 8000 programs, classes, and special events listed on its website. In its first 60 days of launching, the site has gained a strong following of users and registered members with an average of 6000 visitors per month.
By the end of the year The Kid Scoop plans to roll out new features to the site including a special Member Card offering exclusive discounts with retailers and service providers, a personalized calendar to organize kids schedules and activities and a digital notification system to inform registered users of their kids registration and preferred activities schedule.

Press Release - Launch

The Kid Scoop launches new website for kids programs, classes, events and activities in Montreal.

MONTREAL – June 8, 2009. The Kid Scoop announced today the launch of their website thekidscoop.com: an all-in-one reference for kids programs, classes, events and activities. This free interactive site allows parents with children under the age of 15 to find, plan and register on-line for all their kids’ activities across the island of Montreal.

The Kid Scoop website has Montreal’s largest database of up-to-the-minute activities and programs that parents can quickly search with a flexible variety of criteria including neighbourhood, child gender, age and personal interests. Upcoming features to the site available early fall include a handy calendar that allows parents to organize their kids’ schedules and activities and an option to register and pay online for those activities. A special Member Card also offers parents exclusive discounts with retailers and service providers, as well as access to special family events available exclusively to Kid Scoop Card Members.

President and co-founder Cindy Fagen remembers her own experience as a busy Mom looking for things to do with her family; “I was busy running around Montreal with two young kids, trying to find the right age-appropriate activities for each of them, and hoping that I hadn’t missed the registration deadline,” Having spent the last few years in the trenches of "parenting boot camp" while juggling her career, Ms. Fagen realized just how much time was involved in pulling together all of the information required to organize her family’s activities. “Where do you start when you have a toddler and a new baby and it suddenly dawns on you that Starbucks is not considered a kids activity? Where do you go? Who do you ask? I realised there had to be an easier way.” Ms Fagen joined forces with her business partner Lorne Schwartz, a successful software entrepreneur and father of 2 young children to shape the ideas behind Kid Scoop. A collaboration with K3 Media, one of Canada’s leading Web Development Agencies leveraged the technology to enable Kid Scoop’s platform. “Where other family related sites offered basic, static information, The Kid Scoop has up-to-the-minute complete detailed information on activities across the city with the unique ability to register and pay on-line.” said Mr. Schwartz.

With plans to roll out access to other cities across Canada early next year, The Kid Scoop will quickly become parents’ website of choice for family-related community activities.

The Kid Scoop website will officially launch June 8th, 2009, with scheduled promotional appearances planned for Kirkland Family Day June 13th, Hampstead Family Day June 17th, Montreal West Canada Day, July 1st and Beaconsfield Canada Day, July 1st.
