Nighttime Neanderthals
With the recent cold weather closet switchover I realized that my pajama drawer has two distinct divisions.
Side A contains old shorts from high school, huge hand-me-down t-shirts from my husband and a couple of torn pairs of leggings. Side B is not as large with its slinky selection of negligees, tank tops and silky boy shorts.
I have mostly friends to thank for Side B of my pajama drawer which were acquired six years ago at my bachelorette party. Yes, six years ago and I can count on one hand how many times they have been used. No, sexy sleepwear isn’t just for the single girl but oversized tees and sweats seem to reign supreme in bed.
Especially as the days get colder.
But there has to be some middle ground, right? Totally. And I recently discovered it on a trip to Change Lingerie. I wasn’t necessarily looking to add to my pajama drawer but the moment I saw it I could picture myself cuddling up by the (non-existent) fireplace and spending a lazy Sunday morning with my family. One in which, if the doorbell rang, I wouldn’t be embarrassed to open it in my PJs.
So what is it? It’s called the “Big Shirt.” Sounds perfect for side A, right? Well, this nightgown ($49.50) may be as comfy as an oversized tee but with its lace trimmed deep V contains just the right amount of sexiness with coziness.
And after the extremely helpful staff at Change Lingerie showed me some of their other sleepwear options, I quickly realized that maybe my pajama drawer requires a side C. Or maybe I just need to bring all of those original side A poor-excuses-for-sleepwear to a donation drop-off box and start anew. As a Club Change member I get 10% off my next purchase so there’s really no excuse not to!
