Happy Moms Go To HappyTree, part 1 Yoga in Montreal
Time out!
A new perspective on what it means to be a selfless parent.
The Dalai Lama was quoted saying, “The force that brings the deepest satisfaction to the world is the tender embrace between a mother and her newborn child.” Without this deep connection, none of us would have survived our formative years and turned into the relatively well-adjusted adults that we are.
Being a mother is the most important job in the world (no pressure), but it’s also one of the hardest. It certainly isn’t all peace, love and bonding all of the time (especially on 2 hours of sleep). Moms go from being the sexy, independent centre of their own world to being “the boob”, on call 24 hours a day. It’s a selfless job, and as a result, many moms find they lose their “Self” in the process.
If you’ve ever worked on a project or assignment for longer than a few hours straight, you know how easy it is to lose perspective on what you’re doing. So, you take a break or you sleep on it. Most mothers don’t get that luxury, but the reality is this: the most unselfish thing you can do for your child is to take time out for yourself.
Happy moms go to HappyTree because they understand that taking a few hours on their mat to refuel is paramount to reconnecting with their Self, and to gaining perspective on their role as a mom. A mother who nurtures her body and mind has much more patience and nurturing to give her child in return.
Whether it’s yoga or another activity that fills your well, taking “time out” for yourself must become a priority. We need to support and encourage each other to look after ourselves, in order to reach our true potential as parents. If not now, then when? Your Self and your child will thank you for it.
