A friend of mine just had her first child. Before the baby was born, my friend Lauren had plans of renting a villa in Italy when her baby was 9 months old, where she would knead, bake and eat homemade focaccia while lounging in the shade of a barrel of Chianti – or something like that.

Her little girl is now 3 weeks old and due to intense sleep deprivation, Lauren can no longer spell the word Italy, let alone plan, [...]

I’m a Volvo driving soccer Mom. Actually, the Volvo got traded for a Toyota Sienna…a minivan is more befitting of my transformation into a bus driver…the ultimate medium for carting my kids to their activities around Montreal including swimming, hockey, piano, ballet throughout Montreal’s West Island.

My Tuesday afternoon:

3:05 p.m. – Pick up my daughter and her carpool from Kindergarten. Teachers report that after 3 weeks of school they finally heard my daughter speak today!

There are many books in the parenting section which contain the phrase “Things They Didn’t Tell You” in the title. Things about childbirth, babies, becoming a mother, co-parenting with your partner, what happens to your body during pregnancy and the collateral damage therein. At this point, I think we’ve all been told. It’s whether we want to listen or not.

Are you on Twitter?  Do you tweet, retweet, #followfriday and #trendtopics?  If you think I’ve lost my Mommymind, let me reassure you.  Twitter is simply the latest social media tool which allows users to tell their “followers” what they are doing, in 140 characters or less. And from what I’ve seen, Moms love it.  We connect, laugh, rant, share, and relate.  I get that.  But there’s a group out there who don’t get it. A social media savvy group:  Teenagers.
