Our family vacation is just days away. And while I’m thrilled to be hitting the beach, visiting my cousins and lazing around in the summer sun, what’s haunting me most is the eight-hour car ride.

Two kids, ages nine months and three years, require a lot of entertaining. Even if we are breaking the drive up by stopping overnight. So I’m planning ahead to avoid meltdowns, numerous bathroom stops and “are we there yet?” being asked every 5 minutes.

Robert (my husband just in case you get the wrong idea) and I rented a room. Yup, a hotel room in our own city without the kids. A night without kids?!? Yahoo!
