Spring Break Day Camps for Kids

It goes by different names depending on the city or the location – spring break, March break, winter break, mid-term break – but regardless of how it is labeled, it provides kids with a short hiatus from their school homework and schedules. While the concept gives the kids a change of pace and some downtime, the break often presents challenges for parents looking for activities to keep kids physically active and away from the television or video games.

A good alternative that especially suits working parents is to send their kids (and perhaps enlist the support of your children’s friends too), to day camps. If you are lucky, all your children will be off from school at the same time, but this is not always the case. Typically, camps are offered over a number of weeks to accommodate the various schedules of different public and private schools. These camps offer a range of programs, including hockey, soccer, gymnastics and many other recreational activities.

If you want to ensure that your child is not parked inside for the week break, then consider Sportball, a non-competitive sports instruction for children aged 16 months to 12 years. Sportball runs camps during the various February and March breaks and it’s not too early to register on-line. Sportball helps children develop socially and physically through a curriculum that helps to develop confidence free from the pressure of competition. Programs are designed and focused on improving gross motor skills, physical strength and fitness, social skills and self-esteem.

Another leading program that teaches kids teambuilding and builds character development is Dynamix, which offers innovative and exciting programs for kids and teensAll Dynamix programs are extremely hands-on and interactive, and always focus on teamwork and sportsmanship. Kids will love the variety of activities, sports, challenges and games at a Dynamix camp, where respect, sportsmanship and team spirit are foremost.

At Club Sportif CDL, a premier indoor and outdoor fitness center and tennis club in West-Island Montreal, kids from aged 5 to 14 can participate in a multi-sport day camp. A variety of popular sports is offered, including badminton, tennis and squash. The climbing wall will prove to be a great favourite.

Kids will enjoy the break in their routines and be engaged in activities that are fun and provide them with positive energy to recharge their batteries during the long winter.
