Our fall and winter babies sometimes get the raw end of the deal when it comes to birthday parties. Unlike their spring and summer counterparts, we can’t take advantage of the great outdoors by hosting their parties at a park or in the backyard. So while we end up doling out more for an indoor venue to hold all of their friends, we sometimes find ourselves having to scrimp on the other party details.

And while the cake reigns king and entertainment is a must, the first place we usually look to cut is the loot bag.

As much as we love the dollar store we hate the idea of a big $1.25 marked on their parting gifts. Don’t get us wrong, we’re thrilled to have spent just a few dollars per bag but instead of plastic toys that fall apart after one use, we wish their giveaways could be filled with presents worthy of applause.

Well, now they can be. Ever since we discovered the JRC Toys warehouse sale. On now until December 24^th, this sale may be known as a great place to buy holiday gifts (and it is!) but on our last visit we stocked up on loot for their loot bags.

We found tons of great stuff under $5. For the artsy set, there are Disney colouring books and crayons for just a buck, a 10-pack of PlayDoh for $3.99 or mini mosaic kits (popstar and surfer themed) for just $2.99. For gifts that are pure fun, there are Hello Kitty and Toy Story watches for $3.99, lenticular puzzles for $4.99, Nemo placemats for $1, Hot Wheels for $1.19 and Sponge Bob and Dora silly bandz are just $3 for 2 packs.

Amazing stuff, right? We discovered all of these great finds in the first aisle alone! Let’s just say that our other afternoon plans took a rain check as we perused all of the great deals. And even though we don’t see it possible, if we couldn’t find what we were looking for we could have always headed to the 2^nd location of the JRC warehouse sale now in St Leonard.

So while we hope they’ll be raving about our party for days, we know that they’ll be playing with our loot for weeks!
